San Jose isn't one of my service areas. It's the middle of all of them. I'm based here, which puts Santa Clara and Morgan Hill to the south, San Francisco and Oakland to the north, and Santa Cruz over the hill — and it means I've watched this specific auction closely enough to know where it's overpriced.
Book a call →It's the biggest city in the Bay Area and the most contested local auction in the region. Every national franchise that operates in Northern California is bidding here, and so is every independent within 30 miles. Clicks cost more than anywhere on my list except San Francisco.
The upside is volume. There is more search demand in San Jose than in Morgan Hill, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara combined, and a lot of it is high-intent — homeowners with money, aging housing stock in the older neighborhoods, and a rental market that generates constant turnover work.
The trap is spending like a franchise. You cannot outbid 1-800-Got-Junk across the whole city. What you can do is own the zip codes you actually service, at the hours you actually answer the phone, for the jobs you actually want. That's a targeting problem, not a budget problem, and it's the entire reason a one-truck operation can beat a national brand on the same page.
Trades that live on daily call volume — junk removal, plumbing, and HVAC. Businesses where a quiet week is a real problem and one booked job pays for a month of leads.
A Bay Area junk removal operator appearing above 1-800-Got-Junk, College Hunks, and Junk King on nearly every relevant search within 30 days of launching Local Services Ads, Jun 7 to Jul 6, 2026. In parallel, their Performance Max campaign took conversions from 7 to 17 in a 28-day comparison, May 8 to Jun 4, at $80.94 per conversion.
Each of these searches differently, converts differently, and needs a different campaign. Start with yours.
Same-day jobs, franchise competition, and the fastest path from search to booked haul.
Emergency intent, high-ticket repipes, and a customer who calls the first credible name.
Seasonal spikes and replacement jobs worth thousands. Budget pacing decides the year.
I'm 20 minutes from most of San Jose. Happy to talk about your market specifically rather than in generalities.
